The Career and Wellness Doctor
Autumn L. Cabell, Ph.D.
Welcome to my page- a space dedicated to providing career advice, wellness tips, and updates about my research and life in academia.
I'm so glad you found my page. Here's a little bit about me. I earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology with minors in Biology and Child Development from Florida State University in 2015. In 2017, I graduated from George Washington University with a master's in School Counseling and in 2020 I earned a Ph.D. in Counselor Education and Supervision from Virginia Commonwealth University. I am a Board Certified Counselor, Certified Career Counselor, Certified Clinical Trauma Professional, and Licensed Professional Counselor passionate about serving minority adolescents and young adults in order to promote growth, mental wellness, and career engagement. My professional counseling experiences include working with adolescents and adults in school, community, private practice, university career services, and federal agencies. In addition, I am a counselor educator. I teach the next generation of counselors and actively engage in research. My research agenda centers on improving the career development and mental health of historically underrepresented students. Through research, I aim to develop interventions that support the retention of underrepresented students pursuing careers in science, technology, engineering, mathematics, and healthcare (STEM-H). Lastly, I often speak at community events and professional counseling conferences on topics related to multiculturalism, career development, stress, trauma, resilience, STEM-H education, and more.
